Winchester Model 55 1929 Made the year of the Crash Nice Gun Great Buy Good Bore See Below Same As 94's Not Take Down
Description: SALE PENDING KIRK M 3/28/22 For folks who are unfamiliar with model 55's they share the same action as model 94's (chambered in 3030, 25-35 and 32win spl.. This one is 30 30 (30 WCF) and most were serialized alike (meaning 94 serialization). This gun like most of that era have had the blue flake off the receiver but it is NOT pitted and the barrel retains almost all of the original blue. Rear site replaced with a Marbles. . Bore is excellent. The forend wood is very good for its age wth a couple of small bite marks. The butt stock was adoned with some sort of decorations removed prior to it coming to us; the tracks of this are still visible BUT thse are the same as model 94 stocks of which millions were made and could easily be replaced if t buyer wishes to improve it (avail on ebay and many other places) Approx 80% of all 55's were made in a take down configuration, this one is a fixed frame making it somewhat uncommon if not exactly rare. It appears to have been made in the year of the Stock Market Crash 1929....in that year like many of the others before it approx 20,000 were produced but the next yr fewer than 5000 were produced reflecting the dire economic times that followed. One of the upper tang screws is missing but should be easily replaced. This like most are a rifle (24" barrel) with a button (half) mag tube. In 1924 approx Winchester dropped the rifle version of model 94s and for a period only offered the Carbine (20") The 55 was offered for those who wanted a rifle...Sometime later Winchester began to offer a 94's in a rifle version again and 55 productions ceased in the eaerly 1930's This guns is priced well below others and is an excellent buy for the Collector or Hunter who would like to hunt with a piece of history Shipping is $ 50.00 (more to Ak and HI) SOLD |
