Spectacular 1954 Vintage Winchester Model 61 .22 Caliber Rifle
** 100% Original and Minty! **
Description: This minty 1954-production Winchester Model 61 slide-action .22 caliber rifle is absolutely stunning and is 100% original. It has obviously spent the vast majority of it's life in storage, and has probably been fired a handful of times at the very most in it's 66 years of existence. The Winchester Model 61 is one of the truly iconic .22 caliber repeating rifles from America's most famous rifle maker. First introduced in 1932, the Model 61 remained in production for 31 years until being discontinued in 1963. The winchester Model 61 quickly earned a reputation for being an extremely well-made and handsome rifle that was both very accurate and extremely reliable. It features a hammerless repeating pump/slide-action design with a factory gloss blue finish, a 24" inch round barrel with iron sights, a under-barrel mounted tubular magazine, and an American Walnut pistol grip stock set with a grooved forearm. This particular example is serial number 208753 and it remains in spectacular condition. The original gloss-blue factory finish is bright and clean, rating 98%+ to 99%. The only deduction that we can find is some very minor finish wear located on the bottom of the magazine tube and bottom of the operating arm in the space between the forearm and receiver. This is a result of the action being opened where metal to metal contact occurs. Outside of this one area the rest of the gun is pristine, including all of the screw heads and stock hardware. The original "in-the-white" safety button is like-new, with even the original red paint in perfect condition. The exposed polished portion of the bolt is bright and clean, with zero stains or bad spots. The bore in this Winchester is minty and mirror-bright. All of the rifling is sharp and there are zero visible imperfections, wear, pitting, or erosion. The original stock set on this Model 61 is spectacular. The American Walnut forearm and buttstock are a perfect match to each other and for all intents and purposes they are flawless. There are no visible scratches, dings, dents, cracks, chips, or repairs on either piece. As mentioned earlier, all of the stock hardware is in perfect shape, including the original blued-steel checkered buttplate. The original Winchester factory wood finish rates 99% plus. The action on this Winchester is like-new, both smooth and precise. The bolt locks up perfectly into battery with no wiggle or slop, and all of the controls on the rifle are in like-new perfect working order. This Winchester should function 100% like the day it left the factory. If you have been looking for a true "collector grade" Winchester Model 61 for your collection here is your chance to get the best one we have had in years. It would be all but impossible to upgrade from this minty and pristine Model 61.
