Winchester Model 61 22 Short First year Production
Description:
SN 5062 is a 1st year production model 61 Winchester built in October 1932.
See page 118 of "Winchester Slide Action Rifles" by Ned Schwing page 118.
This rifle is a very scarce if not rare model 61 in 22 short with an octagonal barrel.
This piece shows all of the early features including the 6 1/2" 11 groove slide handle and the early magazine tube collar 1932 to 34.
The original blue rates overall at 95 plus %, with clear sharp markings.
The bore rates at bright vg plus to excellent.
The mag tube shows an extra lower loading port that reduces the magazine capacity to 12 rounds.
The wood shows a loss of most of the original finish on the pump handle.
The butt shows approx. 25-30% and numerous small dings and wisker wear on the left side of the comb.
The extr port on the magazine and the wood markings suggests that this rifle was at one time used as a gallery rifle.
This item is new to the market and is described as very rare in the Blue Book reference. FFL or C&R
