1941 Winchester Model 62A .22 Rimfire Pump-Action Rifle
** Beautiful All-Original Rifle ** SOLD
Description:
Introduced in 1932, Winchester made the Model 62 and 62A which was a modern version of their famous 1890 until 1958, with over 400,000 manufactured. The 62A is a take-down pump-action repeater with a 14-round tube magazine mounted under the barrel and features a 23" inch round or octagon barrel. This particular rifle is serial number 123895 and was manufactured just before the outbreak of World War 2 in 1941. It is an all-original gun in great condition overall. The original factory gloss blue finish rates 93 to 94% with only some minor handling and finish wear showing, and only under close inspection are there some very tiny little specs scattered about on the gun from some very minor surface rust that has been removed. As you can see in the pictures provided, the vast majority of the finish wear is in areas where metal makes contact with metal when the action is worked and the gun has a pleasing uniform appearance. The reciever has no extra holes in it, and the factory iron sights are in place and in excellent condition. The bore in this Winchester Model 62A minty and bright. The rifling is still sharp and the bore is free from pitting, erosion, bulges, or any imperfections whatsoever. Given the minty bore and exceptionally clean internals of this rifle it has not been fired very much despite being 78 years old. The original Walnut stock set is in excellent condition. Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and only show some very minor handling/storage marks. The grooves in the forearm are still clean and sharp, and the factory finish is intact on both pieces. The buttstock still has the original "Winchester Repeating Arms Co."-branded buttplate in-place, and it is in excellent condition and perfectly fit to the wood and tight. All of the controls on this Winchester are in perfect working order, and the action is smooth and tight when worked by hand. The bolt goes into battery perfectly and locks up tight with no play in it. This rifle takes down easily and goes back together perfectly without any issues. When assembled there is no play whatsoever between the front and back halves. This Winchester 62A would be the perfect choice for someone wanting one of these classics that is nice enough to be a great investment, but not too nice to occasionally shoot at the range or farm.
