Barn Find....in a manner of speaking. This gun has seemingly been sitting in some old gents safe since the 1970's With the exception of one minor flaw easily touched up where the front sling swivel dug at the wood near the stud it is otherwise in 95 % cond. or better. By the late 70's and early 80's Winchester had recovered from the dismal days following 1964 and had begun to produce real quality guns again like this one US made right at the old plant in New Haven Ct 45 mins from us. Althought the XTR designation (this one does not say XTR) was supposed to represent extra finish in this period the term was used casually describing some models some years and other identical models without. We refer to thsi style with beautirully executed extra sharp real cut checkering and the classic style with black forend time as XTR style. Other than the area on the underside of the forend at the stling swivel stud there is virtually no sighn of having been hunted or used; even the t guard and floor plate with typicl high luster blue are unmarked and perfectr as are the screws and the bolt shaft engine turning reflecting no or little use.
Shipping is $ 59.00 with insurance to most locations, more to some far distant from us in the NE.
This gun came with weaver type 2 piece and rings but no scope. We have many fine excellent used Leupolds and others if you need a scope, inquire.

Barn Find....in a manner of speaking. This gun has seemingly been sitting in some old gents safe since the 1970's With the exception of one minor flaw easily touched up where the front sling swivel dug at the wood near the stud it is otherwise in 95 % cond. or better. By the late 70's and early 80's Winchester had recovered from the dismal days following 1964 and had begun to produce real quality guns again like this one US made right at the old plant in New Haven Ct 45 mins from us. Althought the XTR designation (this one does not say XTR) was supposed to represent extra finish in this period the term was used casually describing some models some years and other identical models without. We refer to thsi style with beautirully executed extra sharp real cut checkering and the classic style with black forend time as XTR style. Other than the area on the underside of the forend at the stling swivel stud there is virtually no sighn of having been hunted or used; even the t guard and floor plate with typicl high luster blue are unmarked and perfectr as are the screws and the bolt shaft engine turning reflecting no or little use.

This gun came with weaver type 2 piece and rings but no scope. We have many fine excellent used Leupolds and others if you need a scope, inquire.
