WINCHESTER MODEL 70, 7MM REMINGTON
MAGNUM, Boyd's Thumbhole Stock
Description:
WINCHESTER Model 70 in 7MM Remington Magnum made in 1972. I got this rifle a few years ago as part of a collection of hunting rifles. The stock had been sanded down so that the checkering was all but gone. They had shortened the stock and put a cheap recoil pad on it that had not been properly fitted. About a year ago, after cleaning the bore, I took it to the range to see if it would shoot. My go to load is a 150 grain Barnes TTSX bullet with 66 grains of IMR 7828 SSC powder, CCI 250 Magnum primer in a Federal case. This load went over my chronograph at 3158 FPS average measured 14 feet in front of the muzzle. I shot 3 groups of 3 shots each from a steady bench using sandbags with a Leupold 12X scope mounted. All 3 groups were under 1.5 inches on a cool calm morning. (I cannot guarantee accuracy, this is how the rifle shot for me with this load, it may not shoot the same for anyone else).
Since the rifle showed promise, I had my gunsmith, Justin Sip, of J. Sip & Sons Custom Guns, put the barrelled action into this Boyds Laminated Thumbhole stock. The metal has been cerakoted and the stock has a clear satin cerakote finish. There are a couple of small dings on the barrel just above and in front of the Trademark which can be clearly seen in the photos. Other than that, the rifle looks great. The thumbhole stock is for a right handed shooter and has a 14" length of pull to a solid rubber buttplate. The rifle originally came with open sights but they had been removed by the time the rifle got to me. The receiver is drilled and tapped for mounting a scope.
This is a hunting rifle and in 7 mm mag. it is capable of taking most of the game in North America. It would also make a great African Plains rifle with the right scope. Please check out the photos and contact me with questions. Thanks for looking!

Return Policy Guidelines of GunsInternational Unless the buyer and seller agree to modify, as may be the case in a new gun, layaway, international sales and for used guns and accessories it must be clearly marked in the listing as No Return, the return policy is three (3) calendar days from the day the item(s) are received by the buyer or delivered to the FFL acting for the buyer. Priority, Express, Blue Label etc. The return item MUST be in the same condition as when shipped to the buyer. This is an inspection period only, a gun is not to be fired or disassembled. Sellers written permission is required to allow the buyer to take down a takedown model during the inspection period. Upon the receipt and inspection of the returned gun, the seller agrees to issue a prompt refund. Recommendation: Confirm purchase with all details via the Contact Seller form within the listing and print out the listing for your records.
