The Winchester Model 70 is the bolt-action rifle that all others are compared to. This model features a camo finished synthetic stock with a rubber recoil pad. This Model 70 has the control round push feed action produced in the early 2000s. Unlike the standard Control Round Feed action, the bolt face has a lower rim open at the bottom. This layout allows the cartridge case to slide up into the bolt face from the magazine, achieving control early in the cycling process. A 3-position safety allows the shooter to load or unload the Model 70 with the safety engaged in the mid position. The bolt is locked down with the safety fully to the rear, where it is extremely unlikely to accidentally get knocked to the fire position when carrying the rifle in rugged terrain.
