MINTY PRE-64 WINCHESTER MODEL 70 ALASKAN, .338 WIN MAG MADE in 1962

Description: Here is a Mint pre-64 Winchester Model 70 in .338 Win Mag. The called this one the ALASKAN because it was an ideal cartridge/rifle combination for Alaskan game. The ALASKAN came with a 25 inch barrel. I purchased this one about 25 years ago from Gallenson's in Salt Lake City, Utah. It came from a collection of pristine Model 70s. It was made in 1962. It appears to be unfired, but I cannot guarantee that it has not been fired. The Bolt Face is pristine and perfect. The bore is bright with sharp riflings. There is virtually no wear on the bluing, even at the muzzle or on sharp edges. The bolt handle has no wear at all. There is one tiny scratch on the left side of the stock by the action, and some small scratches on the bottom of the forend by the sling swivel. These scratches are shown clearly in the photos. Other than that, the stock appears perfect. The butt pad is original to the rifle and is marked with the Winchester logo. The stock has the high comb, designed for the use of optical sights, which was the only style available in 1962. The sights are original to the rifle. The receiver is factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting. This would make an excellent addition to any Winchester collection and is also ready for hunting if you choose to do that.
