Pre-64 Model 70 from 1948 in 30-06.

Description:
Pre-64 Winchester model 70 standard rifle chambered in the versatile 30-06 caliber that was manufactured in 1948. The left side of the barrel is marked "MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA / WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL", "WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK", "MODEL-70- 30 GOV'T' 06-" with a circled "WP" proof. The right side of the receiver is marked "94551". The left side of the receiver is marked “Winchester / Trademark” and with a circled "WP" proof at the chamber ring. The bolt body is etched with the matching serial number of "94551". The bluing on the barrel shows wear, marks and thinning from use but overall is in fine condition. The receiver finish is in fine condition with thinning on the edges and wears a set of Weaver scope mounts as shown. The bottom metal shows a lot of thinning and wear from carry as we have shown. The stock finish shows wear and it has some marks and dings from use. It has a L.O.P. of 14 inches over the White Line recoil pad. There has been a set of push release sling swivels added to it at some time.  The 24 inch barrel has an excellent bright bore with no issues and the rifle wears the original sights.    Overall this is a very fine 72 year old Pre-64 model 70. $948 plus $50 insured shipping.
