Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 22 Hornet Super Grade
Description:
Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 SUPER GRADE in exceedingly scarce 22 Hornet caliber! S/N 106*** Mfg. 1949. The scribed # on bolt matches receiver. 24" Barrel with excellent bore. This is a very clean rifle with signs of careful use over the years. I would rate the original finishes at about 95%. I have personally verified that the chamber has not been reamed to K hornet or any other caliber, and all internal components are 100% correct. Has the correct Super Grade stamped floor plate and the nearly impossible to find Redfield gold bead front sight is also present. Action components on Supers were seldom if ever jeweled until about 1955. This rifle had a scope mounted on it when I received it. Upon removal I noticed a ground out area from leading edge of rear receiver bridge to where original front scope mount hole should be. It is a clean and uniformly shaped grind, but prefer disclosure to covering it back up. Still an amazing rifle, and hopefully priced fairly enough for someone that doesn't want to fork out 6 grand or more for some of the others that I have sold. Swivel bases are present, but no swivels are included.
