Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 243 Win Varmint Style
Description: Here's a very sharp and interesting Model 70 Varmint style in 243 Win. caliber. About 96% overall. All factory components, but it has a non typical aluminum buttplate, so in all liklihood that feature was either added or the rifle was restocked with a mid- fifties Featherweight stock. In any case, the barrel channel has been opened up to accommodate the beefy 26" MH Stainless barrel and then some, having been free floated its entire length. The barrel channel itself is like new, showing very clean routing with no glass bedding and no cracks. S/N 397*** made in 1957. The scribed S/N on the bolt has been mostly worn or polished away and is illegible. The bore is excellent and mechanics are flawless. This is an attractive and no doubt tack driving rifle in a very popular caliber being offered at a reasonable price. Less than 1% of Pre 64 Model 70s were made in the Varmint Style .
