Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 257 Roberts Transition!
Description: A straight, clean and very tough to find Model 70 in the scarce 257 Roberts and doubly scarce transition configuration. S/N 74*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1947. This transition era rifle has a Pre War vintage receiver with the clover leaf tang and the unique "rabbit's foot" or "clam shell" safety seen only during this short period of production from about 1946-48. The Barrel is 24" with excellent bore. All mechanical functions are working smoothly and properly. Overall condition is about 95% showing only light wear to the majority of metal. The butt plate shows more wear. There are some scattered handling marks on the beautiful lighter colored stock which shows a bit of nice figure, but nothing noteworthy and no deep scratches, gouges or cracks other than a short and insignificant age crack in the heel area as shown. A great and coveted rifle in a super caliber that can still be taken out and carefully enjoyed. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
