Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 257 Roberts
Description:
Here's a nice collectible/shooter grade rifle in a scarce caliber! It's a Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 standard rifle in .257 Roberts caliber. The S/N is 171*** indicating a manufacture date of 1950. The scribed number on bolt body matches receiver. It has a 24" barrel. This rifle shows signs of use but seems to have been well cared for. Overall, I would rate the Bluing and Varnish at 90% or better. There is an area of lightly worn/oxidized Bluing where barrel joins receiver and another small area on bottom side of muzzle. Varnish has scattered light use marks throughout, the worst being a small gouge on L side butt and a front swivel rub. All mechanical functions appear to be smooth as silk and functioning correctly. The Bore is excellent, showing bright with sharp rifling. These 257 Roberts don't come along every day and unmolested examples such as this are usually quite expensive due to their limited production. If you have been looking for a good, solid, unbuggered rifle that can still be taken out and enjoyed the way it was intended to be, then this may be the right one.
