COLLECTOR / INVESTMENT GRADE STANDARD GRADE IN SCARCE AND DESIRABLE 257 ROBERTS. 100% ORIGINAL & AS NEW CONDITION. Difficult or impossible to upgrade this example. Presents as Unfired, with no cartridge case impression on the bolt face or bullet feed marks on the chamber throat. Deep flawless blue, perfect bore and dark dense grain walnut, unlike many later pre-64 models with lighter wide-grain wood. Serial number dates to 1953. Of course, matching # on bolt. The only imperfection on this gorgeous Model 70 is a tiny 1/8-inch circular surface fleck in the varnish above the right side of the trigger guard as visible in the photos – probably from someone’s ring or being nicked while on a display rack sometime in the past. Purchased from Collector Firearms in Houston several years back from among a collection of highly desirable Model 70’s from the estate of a local oilman. This iconic Rifleman’s Rifle would be an incredible addition to any serious Winchester collection.
