Very clean and solid rifle in the tough to find 375 H&H Magnum.
S/N 317916 with matching scribed bolt made in 1954.
Representing less than 2.5 % of all Pre 64 Model 70 production, these clean and unaltered 375s are quite scarce. Most of the guys who bought them hunted hard with them, and they often show it!
Straight comb stock with the correct Winchester 70B rollover rear sight. It has a genuine factory installed recoil pad as issued on all 375s which is still in excellent condition, remaining soft and supple.
This rifle is in excellent condition overall with very strong original blue showing 97% over most with a few scattered light scratches and a light segmented scuff on top of barrel at breech end. This shows less in hand than in the reflective photos. The wood is also very nice, retaining virtually all of its original lacquer finish, with a few typical light dents and dings of a gun that has seen some limited careful use.
The 25" C-1 profile barrel has a perfect bore and all mechanical functions are smooth and flawless as well.
As an Alaskan guide who's carried an identical rifle for nearly 40 years, I can positively attest to the unsurpassed capabilities of this package. Most of my associates with any real experience agree. The 375 H&H is also the preferred caliber of many African game cullers.
This fine rifle would be equally suited as a premiere lifelong hunting companion and/or holding a respectable position in your collection.
