Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Transition in 22 HORNET! Excellent!

Description:
Outstanding Winchester Model 70 in the desirable and scarce 22 Hornet and even scarcer Transition configuration! Transition rifles were only made from 1946-1948 and very few were made in 22 Hornet caliber. This one features a couple of the unique features of this brief production period such as the "clam shell" or "rabbit's foot" safety and the pre war style clover leaf tang. Condition is excellent throughout with only normal light handling marks, about 96-97% overall. S/N 86*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1948. I have had this rifle apart and the insides are perfect with no issues whatsoever, but I accidentally deleted the pictures since they are taken at a different stage in my listing process. I have also personally confirmed that the chamber remains a true 22 Hornet and has not been reamed to a K Hornet! 24" Barrel with an excellent bore. All mechanical functions are smooth and working properly. All finishes and components are original and correct. A very fine rifle in a scarce caliber and configuration that would be a proud addition to any collection. I will be slowly but steadily listing some of the finest and most desirable 70s in the country over the next month or so, along with many other fine long guns and handguns, so please stay tuned and take a look at my other current offerings here on this great site.
