Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Varmint .243 Win. Nice!
Description: *SOLD* Exceptionally beautiful piece of wood on this near pristine and somewhat scarce Winchester Model 70 Varmint in 243 caliber. S/N 561*** with matching bolt made in 1962. Someone has glass bedded the first 6" of the barrel channel. Despite the potential practicality/accuracy of this all too common modification, it does reduce the value in the minds of most collectors which is reflected in my reduced price, compared to what this rifle in such fantastic condition would bring otherwise. With that said, The original finishes rate 98% Blue and 99% Varnish. The only notable mark on the gun is some light scuffing under the barrel, no doubt from resting on something during its limited use. The stainless steel barrel is 26" long with minty bore. The mechanical functions are all working smoothly and properly with a light and crisp trigger pull. The factory blue was applied directly to the stainless steel creating the subtle "smokey" look we are all familiar with. A truly outstanding looking rifle at a practical price.
