Pre War Winchester Model 70 1937 Near Mint!
Description:
It just doesn't get much better than this... Here's a fantastic early Pre War 70 in near mint 98% condition. S/N 5081 with matching scribed bolt made in 1937 which was 83 years ago! Caliber is .30 GOV'T '06 (30-06). Every clean Pre War 70 is truly magnificent to behold, but this one really has it all. Aside from the remarkable and 100% original high condition, this fine rifle has some unique features found only on the very first examples produced: Polished Carbonum blue receiver, rust blued barrel, frost blued extractor, square-faced floorplate release button (very rare), factory inletted and installed full base Lyman 48WJS with matching component numbers, correct flat top Lyman 12S rear sight dovetail filler, etc. This rifle has never had a 22g rear sight, and the action screws had never even been turned until my inspection 83 years later. Amazing! The barrel is 24" with a mirror bore. All functions are correct and silky smooth as expected from this era. Sure to please even the most discriminating collector, this one should go quick and it may be a very long wait for another just like it.
