Pre War Winchester Model 70 1st year 4 digit S/N Amazing!
Description: Ultra scarce and beautiful 1st year Pre War 70 in 30-06. This is a true 1st year gun with 4 digit S/N 1235 and matching scribed bolt made in 1936! The original Blue and Varnish rates about 96%, amazing for an 85 year old gun. Beautifully grained wood. Beautiful polished Carbonum Blue receiver seen only on the earliest rifles. Seldom seen rare square faced magazine release botton! Period sling is still in good shape so I left it on, may be original? 24" barrel. There is one somewhat heartbreaking but all too common non original drill hole in the matted rear receiver bridge. Still a fantastic rifle overall. The bore is like a mirror and mechanical functions are typically butter smooth and precise. Not perfect, but you will likely have a very long wait to see another like it. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
