#79076, Winchester Model 70 Pre-64 in 30-06 Made in 1948, Transition Model, Original piece except the bolt handle shank was filed to accommodate a low mounted scope, 24" barrel, Folding rear sight, Early style machined integral front ramp, Factory front sight hood, Standard 3 position safety, Cloverleaf rear tang, Standard Model 70 hinged floorplate, Straight comb stock without a monte carlo comb, Standard point pattern checkering, Sling eyes & swivels, 13 3/4" LOP over the factory checkered steel buttplate, 8 lbs. 4 oz., The original barrel blue is 97%, The receiver blue is 97%, The floorplate & trigger guard is 88%, The buttplate has 92% blue, The original wood finish at 90%, The checkering is 97%, The bore is absolutely excellent plus. This 72-year-old gun is a very nice example of a very honest Model 70 that was not shot much and certainly not abused. This gun and several other Model 70's came out of a collection that extends decades.
