#353853, 6 mm Remington, Pre-64 Model 70 Action Custom Bolt Rifle, This is a very accurate rifle, The action made by Winchester in 1955, 24" barrel without open sights, Model 70 wing safety, Model 70 trigger, Standard Model 70 floorplate, Zeiss 3.5 - 10 x 44 MC Conquest with a 1" tube, Leupold/Redfield type profiled bases and rings, A nice custom stock that was not done by some amateur, It has the trappings of a possible Paul Jaeger rifle because of the stock features, Possible as it could have been a 243 or 308 and got rebarreled as the magazine is the short box for those cartridges; The bottom of the barrel is stamped with a J in a circle, the last 3 digits of the serial # and 981 which could be Sept. 1981 and a R . ., It has a fairly nice piece of wood with a fair amount of fiddleback, Excellent point pattern checkering, Shadowline cheekpiece, Ebony forend tip, Biesen checkered steel grip cap, Biesen trapdoor buttplate, Sling eyes on the stock, 13 1/2" LOP over the Biesen trapdoor buttplate, 8 lbs. 14 oz., It is glass bedded from the recoil lug forward, The overall blue is 97%, The stock finish is 94%, The wrap around checkering is 99%, The bore is excellent. This is an accurate rifle: .685 - .715 & .870" with 85 grain TSX BT, .575" with 87 grain Hornady SP, .375 & .392" with 95 grain Hornady SST, .405 & .735" with 100 grain Nosler Partition, .304 - .525 & .870" with 105 grain Speer SP.
