Description: Winchester Model 70 Pre- '64 Rifle 1951, STANDARD RIFLE, .270 WIN. , 98% General Specs: Winchester, Year 1951, .270 Win, 8lbs 4oz, Rifle Serial Number: 196131 The pre-'64 Model 70 is considered by most to be the very best production rifle ever produced in the USA. With the controlled round feed, perfect balance, classic good looks, and rugged reliability there is little left to be desired. This gun, sn196131 built in 1951, is in superb, factory original condition and unaltered in any way since it left the factory. The 24" barrel has an excellent bore, 98% factory blue with just a little muzzle wear, clear sharp lettering, factory Lyman rear sight and front sight with hood, no flaws. The action retains 99% factory blue, drilled and tapped at the factory for scope mounts, no extra holes, crisp trigger, 99% factory blue on the trigger guard, excellent screws...nice and clean. The stock has 99% factory finish with 13 1/2" LOP to the factory steel butt plate, no cracks or repairs anywhere, factory sling swivels, excellent checkering...all in good order. These pre-64 Model 70's remain in strong demand, and finding one in this nice of condition is uncommon. Model 70's in high factory original condition will still increase in value over time as long as you maintain them as you enjoy their use.
