Winchester pre-64 Model 70
.35 Rem.!!
Description:
SALE PENDING
Winchester Model 70 Pre-64 bolt action rifle chambered in .35 Rem, one of the rarest calibers to find! This rifle, serial number 85672, was made in 1947-48 with a barrel dated 1947. In mid 1948 the Type II cloverleaf action was replaced with current Type III straight receiver, so this .35 Rem was amongst the last of the Type II’s made.
On the receiver is a correct vintage Lyman Alaskan 2 ½ power scope mounted in proper Stith mount utilizing the rear sight bolster for the front mount and side mounted in the rear. This type of mounting was ideal for positioning the thin tubed Alaskan.
Finish wise this gun is 100% original retaining 97% blue on the 24” barrel and action, along with 95% blue on the floor plate and trigger guard. Nicely checkered stock with 92-95% varnish remaining even though there are numerous “light” handling marks..no damage. The steel buttplate is 85%. Bolt knob is bright! Excellent bore, perfect mechanically.
This is a very collectible, rare model 70 perfectly suited for an advanced Model 70 collector.
