Easily one of the nicest 71 Deluxe's we've had. The metal except for a little honest carry wear under the receiver isthiso on very nearly perfect. The handsome factory checkered deluxe stocks have had a little finish added. . Rear site (easily replaced) removd so that the far better William Peep may be used. A couple of minor blems on the stocks and blue is really mirror reflecting the very high quality at Winchester during this era (a friends Grand Mother worked at Winchester at this time and said the quality was actually better than that pre war guns so often sought after ....The 71 was an evolution from the 86 which were offered in many cals and configurations...71's reduced the number of options; delux or standard, carbine; deluxe or standard. We gennerally only take in the much nicer Deluxe guns. A very few were chqmbered in 45-7- but this one likee almost all is chambered in 348. Prior to the avail of many hi powered botl guns, if a man wanted to hunt grizzley these would have been the gun of choice.
This 1957 gun was very nearly at the end of the run (1957)....1935 to 1958. Own one of the most attractive and strongest lever guns ever made as well as a piece of history for a fraction of what it might cost to produce today.
