Winchester ~ Model 71 ~ .348 Win
Description:
Developed as an upgrade to John Browning's 1886, the Winchester model 71 boasts an improved and strengthened action, designed to chamber heavier rounds. Model 71s are chambered in one caliber: .348 Winchester, one of the most powerful rimmed cartridges ever used in a lever action rifle. This particular model 71 was manufactured in 1936, its first full year of production. Manufacturing of the model 71 ran from 1935 to 1958; only a few were made in 1935. High degrees of craftsmanship can be found throughout this model 71. It's in good condition despite its age, but there are marks across the receiver. Most of the bluing is still present, and the wood looks well maintained, but not without flaws: marks are present across the forend and stock, and the forend has developed a wobble. The bore looks well maintained as well, with sharp rifling grooves still present. A noteworthy gun of history and a welcome addition to any collection.
