Listed is a Winchester Model 71 Deluxe rifle prewar in 348 Winchester caliber with serial number "832". This rare Winchester rifle holds a legacy of hunting years in the Great State of Maine and was purchased from the original owner at his young age of 96 years young 27 years ago. I personally have used this rifle hunting and it has a very clean mirror bore and is truly accurate with the 98A Lyman riding bolt peep sight installed by Winchester in 1936. The rifle is 100% factory original as photos reveal with the exception of the missing front sight hood. The bluing is 95% on the barrel and magazine tube while the receiver and lever have turned to a plum patina on most areas. The upper tang and bolt still retain ample bluing appearance. The forearm and buttstock have a coat of tru-oil added by the original owner and the checkering is worn from use and handling marks are present from 89 years of existence. There is a 2" crack in the buttstock directly related to the lower buttplate screw being over tightened, it hasn't traveled in the past 27 years and can be seen in the photos attached. The rifle's action operates like glass and the original leather sling and deluxe Winchester 1" swivels are still with this piece of American History. This Winchester model 71 rifle will make a great hunting companion or a collector piece to add to your personal collection with Serial number "832".
