First ...we love good 88's...smooth fast short throw lever, accuracy in most that resembles a good bolt rifle, fast followup shots without having to take you're eye out of the scope/sight picture and they are to us among one of the best looking rifles ever made by Winchester. Ive owned and carried one just like this since the mid 60's.
Characterized by the handsome dark American Walnut stock, factory hand checkering and ultra deep factory polish to receiver and barrel and all blued surfaces. There is NO pitting nor to we see any evidence of carry wear.
There are severl light compression and handling marks on the stock, none worth pointing out...think of the stock conditon as 90% and the metal closer to 100
Bonus...most younger shooters will not recognize with the scope of mount: it is a US Rochester NY Bausch and Lomb 2 1/2x with a desirable post. The mount also made nearby specifially for this (these) scopes is called a Kuharsky ...a clever arrangement that allows for quick release. This goes back to a time when most were less affleuent so you might have a kuharsky mount on one or more of your other rifles; simply pop it out ..use on the other gun or guns and then back on this rifle...The scopes do not have external adjustments ..the adjust ments are in the base. The scope by the way is very clear and bright.
