1966 Winchester Model 94 "Classic" 30-30 Caliber 1st Year Production SOLD
Description:
The Winchester Model 94 "Classic" series was introduced in 1967 and featured several upgrades from the standard Model 94. The Classic was offered in a 20" or 26" inch octagon barrel and featured an engraved receiver with a gold finished loading gate, deluxe Walnut stock set, blued metal forend cap, and a checkered metal buttplate. Winchester offered this Model 94 Classic until 1970 when it was discontinued, after making approx. 47,000 of them. This example is serial number 3074622, which makes it one of the very first of these Classic guns made in 1966 before it was officially introduced in '67. This Model 94 Classic is a real beauty, with some of the best factory wood we have ever seen on this model. It is in very good condition overall, and is mechanically excellent and 100% original. It is a carbine model with a 20" barrel that has an excellent bore. The rifling has sharp lands and grooves, and there is zero pitting or erosion visible. The original gloss blue finish is very attractive as you can see from the pictures, with some small handling/storage marks visible mainly on the receiver. The octagon barrel's finish is nearly perfect except for one spot where the finish has been marred by some light rust on the right side just ahead of the receiver. Both the front and rear factory iron sights are in excellent shape. The gold finished loading gate retains 95% of the finish, with a faint partial stripe worn from loading cartridges into this Model 94 Classic. As mentioned previously, the factory stock set is beautiful. It is free from cracks or repairs with just a few tiny dings visible in the wood, all of which are minor and only really visible under close inspection. The action on this Winchester is perfect. It works smoothly and locks up tight with no slop in the bolt or lever. Everything works 100% like the day it left the factory. If you have been looking for a Winchester 94 to add to your collection as an investment or a shooter, this Model 94 Classic would be a great choice. These limited production guns are not often available for sale.
