Excellent Winchester 1902 A Boy's Rifle with Extremely Rare Original Box
Description:
Serial #NSN, .22 S,L,LR, 18 inch barrel with a bright, excellent bore having the late four-groove rifling with bore diameter between .219-.220". This is the Winchester Model 1902 A single shot rifle manufactured between January of 1928 and December of 1930 at the very end of the Model 1902 production. The rifle remains in excellent plus condition with the barrel and action showing virtually all 98-99% of the original blue finish with some scattered storage and handling marks. The stainless bolt is likewise excellent with some dried grease and the trigger guard shows about 65-70% original blue with the barrel lug having original case-colors. The stock is solid with scattered handling marks and the Winchester hard rubber butt plate rates about excellent. It comes in the correct original box for the late Model 1902 which features bright and colorful graphics depicting a successful youth hunting with his dog. The Standard Catalog of Winchester lists this box on the 7th full color page in it's "Winchester & Bright and Beautiful" section as "Very Rare" which may be an understatement as we have never seen one before. The box measures 23" high and is in very good condition with clear images, missing one flap with some edge and corner wear and impact damage on the upper left side and remnants of tape on the other. The original hand written price on the upper front is $6.50. A rare item for the Winchester collector. FFL or C&R
