Rare Winchester 1902 Junior Rifle Corps Range Kit No. 1 w/ Targets and Accessories etc
Description: Serial #NSN, .22 short, 18 inch barrel with a bright, excellent bore. This is the Winchester Junior Rifle Corps Range Kit No.1 which includes a Model 1902 take down bolt action Boy's rifle. These kits included all the essential elements for youth to participate in the Junior Rifle Corps whose mission was: "The Winchester Junior Rifle Corps is an honorary organization to encourage marksmanship and sportsmanship among boys and girls in America and to develop the qualities of fair play and manliness, which make for self-control so essential to success in after life." The rifle remains in fine condition with the barrel showing about 45-50% of the original blue finish that has flaked and turned brown where missing with some scattered freckling and crisp barrel markings. The gumwood stock remains in excellent condition with scattered handling marks and the hard rubber butt plate rates excellent. The action functions properly with tight lock up. It comes in the original Winchester branded wood case with leather handle. Included among the original contents is an empty Winchester Gun Oil can that is missing the screw cap; a partially full Winchester Gun Grease tube in the original box; an original Winchester Rust Remover tube in the original box; a "WJRC" branded belt buckle on the original belt with the ammo pouch; an original cleaning rod; a "Rules of the Winchester Junior Rifle Corps" book; an original Membership Certificate; Winchester Junior Rifle Corps hat or lapel pin; and a package of Official Rifle Corps targets with the correct Junior Corps marked targets. Condition of the box and kit items range from excellent to very good with the box fully intact having nice "Winchester" lettering. Given the poor survival of them Kits are rare especially with many of the original items included. FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
