Winchester Model 77
22 Long Rifle
Description:
This little rifle is in VG condition. It would rate higher except for the mottling on the top of the receiver, see photo, and the stock appears to have been refinished with a FAJEN replacement butt plate installed. Comparing it to my other M-77 it would seem that the refinish was simply that. I can detect no dimensional changes so believe it was a simple strip and refinish job. Stock is sound with very few dings or scratches. It does have a sling swivel stud in the forearm but not in the butt. It functions very reliably with the classic RN HV ammo and is typically accurate. I have a good supply of WILDCAT from the "olden" days and it runs flawlessly with it. The bulk HP, more or less truncated cone with a bit of a shoulder, ala SWC, is not so reliable. It will hang up on the "shoulder" occasionally. An example of this type would be the WIN EXPERT bulk. Comes with one factory magazine. Make sure your dealer will accept from an individual. If not, there is an extra $20.00 to pay for my dealer's transfer fee. I'm selling this one because I found another M-77 that was in pristine condition and bought it. That makes this one a candidate for helping to finance the next new toy. MIGHT consider a trade for a M-77 tube feed or a REM M-514, with might being the operative word. I am in NOCO along the Front Range. If you are close enough we could discuss a FTF deal if you so desired.
