Description:
The Winchester 1300 replaced the model 1200 in 1978, incorporating a few improvements over its predecessor but keeping most of the familiar qualities of Winchester's new generation of pump shotguns. The 1300 is famous for its "speed pump," which allowed for faster manual cycling of the action compared to its competitors from Remington and Mossberg. This feature is made possible because of its rotary bolt design—something that was not common yet in shotguns. The bolt unlocks with recoil and begins to start the bolt rearward and can then be cycled with less effort and thus that much faster. This bolt design would later be incorporated into countless other pump shotguns including the modern Winchester Super X Pump (SXP). This 1300 Black Shadow Field is chambered in 12 gauge, is chambered for up to 3" shells, has a 26" barrel, and can hold up to four shells in its tubular magazine. The barrel is threaded to accept Winchoke-pattern choke tubes, including one modified choke tube installed in the gun, and has a vented rib with anti-glare grooves and single brass front bead. The black synthetic furniture on the shotgun is inherently weatherproof and has checkering on both the pistol grip and forend. This shotgun is an early 2000s piece—likely 2001 or 2002, based on a found receipt—and exhibits light to medium usage. There is visible finish wear on the action bars and magazine tube. The stock has light scratches and marks, but there is no damage to the furniture or receiver. The barrel does have one small patch of finish pitting a couple inches forward and right of the chamber. The inside of the barrel is clean with no pitting or rust. This shotgun is sold with the original box and papers. 12 Gauge
