The item for sale is a Winchester 1894 Deluxe Rifle Two Barrel Set. As Winchester Collectors there is much that we can appreciate and have reason to give thanks. The Winchester records which have survived and now managed by the Buffalo Bill Historical Center provides information that collectors of many other makes do not enjoy. If you have collected as long as I have (fifty years) and as a Charter Member of the Winchester Arms Collectors Association (1977) authenticating is always a thrill. That is why this Winchester is special along with the fabulous condition. The factory records do not list this as a two barrel set. However, through careful inspection of the rifle, extensive documentation review and serious consideration of the facts this can be verified as a Winchester Factory Two  Barrel Set. Upon review of the Winchester records the museum archivist stated that as it was not listed in the factory records it would have had the second barrel fitted ànd added when the rifle was returned to the factory (the factory records and attached email verify it was returned to the factory). We do know that within the factory records are errors, omissions and mistakes.  There is a very strong case to support this as being initially shipped as a two barrel set and omitted as such in the factory records, if that is not the case certainly it was fitted as a two barrel set when returned to the factory as suggest by the archivist. Either way the facts point to this being a factory two barrel set. We have included a copy of the Winchester Museum emàil with specific production and shipping info for this rifle. The Winchester Arms Collectors published in their magazine a list of all Winchester Model 1894 rifles shipped from the factory initially as two barrel sets. The list shows two rifles, both 2 barrel sets in the serial number range (less than 20 serial numbers apart) of this rifle. This list does not include rifles that were sent back and updated to two barrel sets. The rifle is in excellent condition. The barrel assemblies are identical in condition. The second barrel (30WCF) is stamped on the underside with "2.S". The forearm wood grain, wood finish and checking are identical obviously matched at the factory prior to shipment. The blue finish on both barrel assemblies is identical in condition, color, polishing, etc. The receiver retains virtually all of the factory blue approx. 98% as does the entire rifle. Strong case colors remain on the lever and hammer. The second barrel assembly is also a rapid taper extra light barrel 24" in length with a full magazine, caliber 30 WCF. The rifle came out of a collection in South Texas where it has been for many decades. A very beautiful rifle that comes along seldom. It will be shipped by USPS Registered Mail fully insured.
