Winchester Model 270 CUSTOM ENGRAVED, .22 RIMFIRE rifle - vintage firearms, inc
Description: Winchester Model 270 Rifle CUSTOM ENGRAVED, .22 RIMFIRE General Specs: Winchester, Year 1970-1973, .22 s/l/lr, 5lb 9oz w/ scope, Rifle Serial Number: 521476 Winchester has been a predominant player in the .22 rifle game since the beginning of the 1900’s. The Model 61 is a very collectible, desirable hammerless pump-action .22 rimfire rifle that was produced up until 1963 when Winchester came out with there Model 270. By all accounts the Model 270 has always been a very good little rimfire rifle that had both reliability and accuracy. Able to chamber and shoot any of the .22 caliber rimfire ammunition except the .22 Magnum, with a capacity of 21 rounds of .22 short, 17 rounds of .22 Long, and 15 rounds of .22 Long Rifle, the Model 270 was one of those guns that was just fun to shoot. Introduced in 1963 and made through 1973, the Model 270 had an alloy receiver, steel barrel, and a decent piece of real wood as the stock. They are not exceptionally expensive guns as rimfire rifles go….unless you find one like this gun, sn521476 made prior to 1968. This gun has been expertly engraved befitting a fine Winchester .22 rifle, with a squirrel scene on the left side, a rabbit scene on the right side of the receiver, and the full length of the top of the barrel engraved in the same scroll work. Any part of the receiver not involved in the game scene is full engraved with banknote style scroll including top and bottom of the receiver and the entire trigger guard. The workmanship is clearly from a master engraver, the kind of engraving I am accustomed to seeing while buying and selling fine side x side shotguns. The scroll work is very consistent and well done, with the cuts on the alloy receiver showing very silvery. This is a very pronounced and cool look. The gun is in “as new” condition, maybe never fired. The wood is without marks, and on the right side of the buttstock is a full scene of two squirrels in a tree sharing space. This carving is not done by an amateur, but a very skilled and accomplished wood carver. YOU WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER RIFLE LIKE THIS ONE AND IT WILL REMAIN THE TALK OF YOUR GUNROOM. Best of all it is a Winchester and a well made little rifle. The cost of the engraving alone would exceed what I am asking for the whole rifle, so don’t miss out on this fine .22. Thanks for looking!
