Winchester Model 54 Super Grade Rifle in 250-3000 Savage
Description: The gun is completely original. No extra holes, alterations, etc. Take a very good look at every picture. The are the best "description" of the rifle. Bolt serial number matches the serial number on the action. I think the sling itself is a replacement. After all, the gun is 90 years old. Serial number 47128A. According to Bichrest's book, it was made in very early 1936. The rear sight blank is missing, but they are available from time to time. The bore is good and shiny. We could not take a decent picture of it with the camera. I saved those pictures, but they look totally terrible. The Super Grade in the Model 54 was produced only from 1934-1936. The cost of the rifle new was $94.85, which included the Lyman 48W Sight. In terms of popularity, calibers in the Model 54 were as follows: 30/06 270 22 Hornet 30-30 As to the other calibers, it is a bit more difficult to determine rarity. I have a friend who lived near David Bichrest, and knew him quite well. Bichrest told him he thought the rarest caliber in the Model 54 was the 7 m/m. They only produced the 220 Swift and the 257 Roberts for one year (1936), but those calbers were pretty popular for the short time that they were produced. And, I have seen the 7.65 and 9 m/m calibers as well. So, were the 250-3000 stands is a bit unclear. Again, take a good look at all the pictures. Shipping and Insurance are extra. I can send a copy of my driver's license with shipment of the gun. Call or email if you have any questions. Thank you.
