Serial Number: A85668
The Mauser action is ubiquitous being employed in some fashion by over 30 countries and countless groups, known for being a strong and reliable action. Zastava post war began production of its own domestic bolt action rifle whose design was based off the FN M24 with some inspiration from the Karabiner 98K, leading to the Zastava M48. It served as the service rifle for the Yugoslav People’s Army until being replaced by the Zastava M70. The M48 would go on to be most famously used in the Yugoslav Wars, being used by paramilitary, auxiliary forces, and in a sniper role. This example, serial number A85668, produced circa 1951 is the first iteration of the M48 line, featuring all machined steel parts. It comes with its original box, documents, bayonet, scabbard, leather frog, leather ammo pouch, and cleaning kit. This rifle is in superb condition, retaining 99% factory finish on the barrel, receiver, and trigger guard, has a 10/10 mirror bore, and appears to be unfired. Furthermore, it has Matching serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, and magazine floor plate. A perfect addition for any Mauser or Militaria collection. Zastava post war began production of its own domestic bolt action rifle whose design was based off the FN M24 with some inspiration from the Karabiner 98K, leading to the Zastava M48. It served as the service rifle for the Yugoslav People’s Army until being replaced by the Zastava M70. The M48 would go on to be most famously used in the Yugoslav Wars, being used by paramilitary, auxiliary forces, and in a sniper role. This example, serial number A85668, produced circa 1951 is the first iteration of the M48 line, featuring all machined steel parts. It comes with its original box, documents, bayonet, scabbard, leather frog, leather ammo pouch, and cleaning kit. This rifle is in superb condition, retaining 99% factory finish on the barrel, receiver, and trigger guard, has a 10/10 mirror bore, and appears to be unfired. Furthermore, it has Matching serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, and magazine floor plate. A perfect addition for any Mauser or Militaria collection.
