Pre-CIVIL WAR Antique MIDDLETON 10 Gauge Double Barrel Percussion SHOTGUN
British Shotgun Imported to the United States
Description: Pre-CIVIL WAR Antique MIDDLETON 10 Gauge Double Barrel Percussion SHOTGUN British Shotgun Imported to the United States Here we present an antique British Edward Middleton Double Barrel Side by Side Percussion Shotgun, manufactured circa the mid to late 1850s in Birmingham, England. This shotgun would have been imported to the U.S. just prior to the American Civil War. During this era, there were many English and Belgian gunmakers who were capitalizing on the eager markets in the United States. This 10 gauge fowling piece was made in a great gauge to go after high flying geese and ducks. Its mid-length 31 inch barrel made for easy hunting in the dense woods or traipsing through the marsh looking for ducks and geese. This would have been a staple of most homesteads hanging over the mantle during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s. The overall condition is good. The left side of the action functions, while the right does not (hammer does not cock, weak or missing trigger return spring). Original brown painta. Good, clear bores (aged). Solid stock, nicely refinished, contains a bit of adhesive residue on the left buttstock. “EDWARD MIDDLETON” marked locks. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel: 31 inches. Caliber: 10 gauge LOP: 14-3/8 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $900 #217733 SOLD Antique: Yes |
