Description: Antique ENGRAVED English THOMAS CONWAY Sidelever TIP-UP 26 Gauge Shotgun Nicely Engraved 26 Bore English Shotgun Here we present an antique Thomas Conway English Sidelever Tip-Up Single Barrel Hammer Shotgun, manufactured circa the late-19th Century in Manchester, England. This would have been a great gun for sport or perhaps for the garden. It is very simple, lightweight, and graceful in the hand. It is easy on the eyes as well with its Damascene twist barrel and scroll engraving. The top of the barrel is engraved with the maker’s name and address: “THOS CONWAY 43 BLACKFRIARS ST MANCHESTER”. Thomas Conway (1804-1871) was a notable gunsmith and maker in Manchester, England. The overall condition is very good. Very nice Damascene twist pattern remains. Original finish/patina. The action is crisp and strong. The bore is bright and smooth. The stock has a stable crack near the heel of the stock. Birmingham black powder proofs under the barrel. A very nice English shotgun!
