Description: ENGRAVED Antique C.G. BONEHILL New Model 1886 12 Gauge SIDE x SIDE Shotgun FACTORY ENGRAVED English Double Barrel Here we present an antique C.G. Bonehill New Model 1886 Side by Side Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, made circa the 1880s in either London or Birmingham, England. London and Birmingham were the epicenter for English gunmaking all the way through and continuing after the turn of the century. This is an English fowling piece that is elegant in its simplicity and practicality. This double barrel hammer gun would have been used primarily for putting game on the table or defending one’s home. The overall condition is good. Original finish/patina. The barrels have good Damascus twist pattern. The right action is fully functional and strong, but the left action does not presently hold the cock notch. The left hammer has also been repaired. The bores are smooth and bright. The stock is solid throughout, though there is a small chip under the left lock that has been repaired by a small finishing nail that looks like it is brass. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 30 inches.
