Bigoni and Mutti
Description: Bigoni and Mutti, Brescia. A very handsome percussion, folding-stock, Blunderbuss, converted from flintlock, and made ca. 1750. Weight: 4 ½ Lbs. OAL: 34 ¼”. Beautiful, 3-stage, barrel, octagon to round with ellipsoid flare to the muzzle. Two gold poincon’s at the breech, one belonging to Giesu Mutti, the other unidentified. There are also nine gold fleur-de-lis Poincon’s, at the breech. The ramrod with an iron worm on the hidden end appears to be original to the gun. The false breech is nicely engraved. The high quality original lock, by Franco Bigoni, was expertly converted to percussion at a much later date. The highly figured folding stock, with a few minor period repairs, is very tastefully and delicately relief carved. The belt hook could be original to the gun or possibly a later addition. Overall a beautiful and interesting folding-stock Blunderbuss. According to,” Der Neue Stuckel, Vol.1 & 2”, Giesu Mutti was an active gun maker in Gardone, Val Trompia, ca. 1750 and perhaps as late as 1792. Franco Bigoni was an active maker in Brescia from 1750 to 1760. Price: $4,750.00 Contact Seller |
