CARVED STOCK Antique EUROPEAN Percussion Conversion SPORTING Shotgun SLING
GERMANIC Style with SPANISH Style MAKERS Mark
Description: CARVED STOCK Antique EUROPEAN Percussion Conversion SPORTING Shotgun SLING GERMANIC Style with SPANISH Style MAKERS Mark Here we present an antique Germanic Style Percussion Conversion Sporting Shotgun with a Spanish style maker’s mark, likely made in mainland Europe circa the early 1800s. This example would have started out life as a flintlock and converted sometime after the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. This hammer gun would have been used for putting game on the table and protecting the homestead. It features a half-length stock, and it is really quite light and handy compared to many of its American contemporaries. This is a very European fowling piece that is known for its simplicity and practicality. This would likely have been exported from Europe to the United States with a thriving market for all sorts of firearms. As people moved West and settled in remote areas, hunting was especially important to put food on the table and for protecting the homestead. This long barreled gun would have been a good gun for fowl hunting. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. This example sports a carved, solid stock with a jaeger style patchbox. Good period sling. The barrel band has a bit of wiggle. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 38-1/4 inches. Caliber: 14 Gauge Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #230107 SOLD Antique: Yes |
