ENGRAVED Antique WESTLEY RICHARDS 12 Bore SINGLE BARREL Percussion Shotgun
Scarce SINGLE BARREL High Quality BRITISH SHOTGUN
Description: ENGRAVED Antique WESTLEY RICHARDS 12 Bore SINGLE BARREL Percussion Shotgun Scarce SINGLE BARREL High Quality BRITISH SHOTGUN Here we present an antique Westley Richards 12 Bore Single Barrel Percussion Shotgun, made in Birmingham, England, circa the 1840s. William Westley Richards established his prestigious company in 1812, at 22 years of age, at 82 High Street in Birmingham. His high-end London shop was established in 1815 at 170 New Bond Street. William’s son, Westley Richards, joined his father in business at the age of 26 and continued to grow the business with his own ideas and patents. It was he who was responsible for the design of the infamous Monkey Tail Carbine in 1858. Dating from about the 1840s, this fowling piece was very standard for the time and vast quantities of this type were exported all over the world. The gun is about a 12 bore and is half stocked. It has all steel mounts and the 32" mostly round, part octagonal barrel. Westley Richards has been making guns since 1812 and continues today making very high-quality shotguns. The overall condition is very good. There is a brown patina throughout with some of the Damascus Twist pattern still being visible on the barrel. The breech has some platinum bands as is the plug in the nipple bolster. The action is excellent. The hammer is original and of uniform color, though the spur has been repaired during the period of use. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock is smooth and solid. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 32 inches. Caliber: Approximately 12 Gauge Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1600 #220136 SOLD Antique: Yes |
