Antique BAKER GUN Co Double Barrel SxS HAMMER Shotgun Coach Length 12 Gauge By L.C. Smith “W.F. & Co” Marked
Description: Antique BAKER GUN Co Double Barrel SxS HAMMER Shotgun Coach Length 12 Gauge By L.C. Smith “W.F. & Co” Marked Here we present an antique Baker Gun Co. Hammer Shotgun, manufactured circa the 1870s by L.C. Smith. Throughout the 1860s and 1870s, W. H. Baker received several patents for his shotgun designs. He partnered with L.C. (Lewis) Smith and began building his guns in Marathon, New York. In 1874, Baker moved the company to Lisle, New York under the name W.H. Baker. There, his two sons joined him in the trade. In 1880, W.H. Baker decided to move on to something else and sold the business to Lyman. The company was then renamed L.C. Smith Shotgun Co. That same year, Baker agreed to partner with three other investors to start producing firearms in Ithaca, New York. This new venture became the Ithaca Gun Company. After four years, Baker decided to withdraw from the partnership and went back to Syracuse to work with his brother, Ellis. The overall condition is fair. Strong action. The bores are in good shape for their ages: smooth and dull gray. This example sports a solid stock with an average amount of wear. Legible markings. Damascus/twist barrels. “W.F. & CO.” is marked on the barrel rib, the bottom of the breech of the barrels, and the bottom of the frame. Hammer screws are replacements, the right screw is not a proper gun screw. Barrels: 20 inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge Chokes: Open/Open Length of Pull: 13-1/4 inches Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1600 #226987 SOLD Antique: Yes |
