Engraved H.A. LINDNER/CHARLES DALY Double Barrel SxS HAMMERLESS Shotgun C&R VERY NICE 10 Gauge English SxS w/CHECKERED STOCK
Description: Engraved H.A. LINDNER/CHARLES DALY Double Barrel SxS HAMMERLESS Shotgun C&R VERY NICE 10 Gauge English SxS w/CHECKERED STOCK Here we present a C&R H.A. Lindner/Charles Daly English Double Barrel Side x Side Hammerless Shotgun, manufactured circa the 1910s in Suhl, Prussia. H.A. Lindner made less than 3000 shotguns with the “Charles Daly” name, which were imported into North America by Schoverling, Daly, & Gates in New York City from the 1870s through World War I. Lindner had a very small gun shop where only a few skilled gunmakers worked. Lindner had the good fortune that Charles Daly, who already imported guns from other Suhl gun makers, discovered Lindner and found in him a small maker who made the guns to his specification in the best quality that could be asked for. Lindner was what would be called a “Rucksack Büchsenmacher”, who was someone that would carry his guns in various states of completion in a backpack to skilled craftsmen who worked in different shops, normally in their residence or very close by. Most of them were highly skilled craftsmen in their chosen specialty, like barrel makers, lock makers, and stock makers. Other shops specialized in polishing, bluing, and color case hardening. Some of the best and most experienced engravers left the bigger factories as they got older and worked in their own shops attached to the houses. According to “The German Hunting Gun Society, Dietrich Apel, Editor, If you asked a well-informed American gun collector or used of the best German gun, the answer will most likely be the Prussian Daly guns made by H.A. Lindner.” The overall condition is fine. Robust action. The bore is bright and smooth. The stock is fine and remains solid with sharp checkering. Legible markings. Original finish and case colors. Finely engraved. Numbers match. This example has the “Crown/Crossed Pistols” trademark on both barrels below the forend. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels: 30 inches. Caliber: 10 Gauge Chambers: 2-7/8 inch with extractor Length of Pull: 13-7/8 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
