Excellent American Arms Company Side Swing Shotgun Boston, Mass Antique
Description:
Serial #325, 12 Gauge, 28 inch barrels with fine, mostly bright bores with a light frosting and scattered very light pitting with open chokes. This is a very well-made gun that was built on the G.H. Fox patented, side-swing action that opens by pressing forward on the tang latch, thus allowing the breech to swing to the right while simultaneously extracting the shells. The barrels are a lightly freckled brown color with excellent, strong Damascus patterns throughout showing some very light scratches on the side of breech that extend onto the frame. The frame and side plates show much of the slightly muted original case-colors and are well marked on either side "AM. ARMS Co. / BOSTON". The checkered stock and forearm are both solid with lightly worn checkering showing nice wood grain as refinished. The lock up is tight with barrels on face. The hammers function properly holding at half an full cock. The LOP is 14" with drops of 2" and 4" at the comb and heel respectively. A beautiful example of a rare, very well made American shotgun with a unique action. Antique.
