FACTORY ENGRAVED Antique COLT Model 1878 10 Gauge SxS Double Barrel SHOTGUN SIDE by SIDE Made in 1881 in HARTFORD, CONN.
Description: FACTORY ENGRAVED Antique COLT Model 1878 10 Gauge SxS Double Barrel SHOTGUN SIDE by SIDE Made in 1881 in HARTFORD, CONN. Here we present an antique Colt Model 1878 Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in 1881. The Model 1878 was made from 1878 to 1889, with approximately 22,683 guns manufactured. These double barrel shotguns were an exposed hammer double gun that competed closely with high-end Parkers. The Colt Model 1878 Double-Barrel Hammer Shotgun is considered to be, if not the finest, one of the finest American double-barrel shotguns ever made. The Model 1878 Shotgun was the highest priced item in the Colt line and was available in almost any grade as a special-order item. This double trigger shotgun is a 10-gauge solid rib with 32-inch barrels. Extractor. According to one source, “the Model 1878 Hammer Gun ranks among the best grade doubles produced in the entire American arms trade. The limited number completed and the great pains devoted to handling specific orders from often fussy shooters means that a considerable degree of quality and variety is evident in the Model 1878 series.” The overall condition is very good. Gray patina throughout with nice Damascus pattern remaining on the barrels. The actions are excellent. The bores are smooth and bright with thick barrel walls. The stock shows wear and there is a tiny chip behind the left lock but all is stable and in great shape. Numbers match. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 32 inches. Caliber: 10 Gauge Chambers: 2-7/8 inch with Extractor Length of pull: 14-1/4 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2700 #227769 SOLD Antique: Yes |
