Description
A very attractive A. Bauernfeind of Heidelberg Damascus steel side-by-side percussion shotgun. Bauernfeind is recorded as a gunsmith in 1850 and was well known as a maker of very ornate and luxurious shotguns. This is a piece that displays as readily as it shoots — add some artwork to your gun cabinet. This is an investment grade firearm.

Action & Metalwork
Side-by-side percussion action with back-action style locks in good working order. Blued furniture with fine arabesque engraving, high quality gold inlay, and fire gilt hunting motives. Hammers are formed in the shape of scaled fish. At 5 lbs 12 oz the gun carries very light in the hand.

Barrels
28¾" Damascus barrels with a solid Damascus rib. Good bore condition with uniform patina and a few minor dints. Belgian Liege ELG proof marks on the barrels.

Stock
Slender English style blond walnut stock with nice wood grain. Checkering partially worn. Ram rod appears to be correct.

Condition
Locks in good working order with few handling marks. Small cracks with old repair around the barrel block. Checkering partially worn, ram rod appears to be correct. Bores in good condition with uniform patina and a few minor dints. An ornate and highly presentable mid-19th century German sporting gun.
