Antique ENGRAVED Side x Side PERCUSSION Rifle & Shotgun Combination CAPE GUN Great for Hunting Dangerous Game or Multiple Species
Description: Antique ENGRAVED Side x Side PERCUSSION Rifle & Shotgun Combination CAPE GUN Great for Hunting Dangerous Game or Multiple Species Here we present an antique Side x Side Rifle & Shotgun or “Cape Gun”, manufactured circa the 1880s in Liege, Belgium. These were typically high-end hunting weapons that featured a side by side configuration with one barrel rifled and the other smooth. The hunter would use the rifled barrel to fire long range, precise shots against large game and use the smooth could be loaded with a large ball or slug for a quick follow up shot, especially on large and dangerous game, or the smooth bore could be loaded with shot to make it feasible to hunt fowl & medium-sized game such as deer at the same time without carrying multiple guns. The gun has two triggers to allow either barrel as needed. This would have been a fantastic piece for the frontier or the homestead or farm. Cape guns made in Germany, Belgium, and Austria usually have the rifled barrel on the right side (as is this one), while British made cape guns are usually reversed. These were supremely handy firearms that could also be used to defend the homestead or put game on the table. The overall condition is very good. Strong, tight action. The bores are in good shape. Silver bands on the barrel rib and shotgun barrel near the breech. Solid stock with a nicely checkered wrist and less than average wear. The brown patina on the twist barrels is even and smooth. Sharply engraved. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 35 inches. Caliber: .40 Caliber Rifle beside 16 gauge Smoothbore Shotgun Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1875 #210407 SOLD Antique: Yes |
