Antique12ga SxS percussion coachgun Engraved with pistol grip
Description: Here is an antique 12ga. Percussion Coachgun: One of the nicest antique percussion shot guns I have had. A very nice feature is the pistol grip stock rarely seen on these old percussion muzzle loading shotguns. Guns like this were use to guard gold bullion on stage coaches and trains in the mid 1850s and 1860s and on into late 70s in the West until they were replaced by the cartridge shell versions. These were used by Wells Fargo, Adams and American Express companies as well as the railroads. The coach gun was carried right along with the Wells Fargo strong box. This one has a brass “WELLS FARGO” label attached to the right side of the stock. This gun was one of the better shotguns used for this purpose. It shows some nice touches of engraving on the locks, trigger guard, tang and ramrod entry pipe. It looks to me that the nipples will have to be cleaned up or replace if you want it to shoot it. This is a very durable shotgun with 20 inch barrels and is 36 1/2 inches overall including the ramrod. The stock show almost no dings, and no breaks or cracks. It would look right in place on a frontier stagecoach or on board an early steam train express car. The only marks I can find on it is on the rib. "Laminated Steel". Other items shown are not included. this is a good sound gun and will serve you well. Price: $1,179.00 Buy Now Contact Seller |
