EARLY 1800s Antique EUROPEAN .70 Percussion Conversion Shotgun GAME GETTER
Likely European Import to the United States
Description: EARLY 1800s Antique EUROPEAN .70 Percussion Conversion Shotgun GAME GETTER Likely European Import to the United States Here we present an Antique European Style Percussion Conversion Single Barrel Shotgun, made sometime in the early-19th Century. This would have started out life as a flintlock and converted when the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. This hammer gun would have been used for putting game on the table and protecting the homestead. It features a full length stock though it is really quite light and handy compared to many of its American contemporaries. This is a very European fowling piece that is known for its simplicity and practicality. This would likely have been exported from Belgium or Britain to the United States with a thriving market for all sorts of firearms. As people moved West and settled in remote areas, hunting was especially important to put food on the table and for protecting the homestead. This would have been a good gun for fowl hunting. The overall condition is good. Robust action and the nipple is a modern replacement. Good bore for its age and rifling can still be seen. The stock is solid all around with and average amount of wear. A nice dark brown patina is present on the barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 35-1/8 inches. Caliber: .70 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #230972 SOLD Antique: Yes |
